Insect-borne diseases are illnesses that are carried by insects, sometimes called vectors, and given to humans through a bite. Common insect borne diseases include Malaria, Zika virus, & Dengue Fever.
In Singapore, the warm, humid climate was the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. We dreaded the bite of the tiny mosquito because it might deliver Dengue fever which could cause death.
Mosquitos are responsible for more than one million deaths every year, more than any other animal on earth. Malaria alone leads to approximately 400,000 deaths annually!
